Skopje City Park (Gradski Park) is the largest and most-loved green space in the centre of the city – a leafy escape just a short walk from the main square. Shaded by tall trees and criss-crossed with wide paths, it is where the people of Skopje come to walk, jog, cycle and relax away from the traffic.
A green heart of the city
Laid out over a century ago, the park has grown into a genuine oasis with tree-lined avenues, flower beds, fountains and quiet corners to sit. It stretches along the Vardar River and connects several of the city’s landmarks, making it as useful for getting around on foot as it is for a lazy afternoon.
What to see and do
There is plenty to do here whatever your pace. Families head for the playgrounds and the neighbouring Skopje Zoo, cyclists and runners use the paths, and cafés dotted through the park are perfect for a coffee in the shade. In the warmer months the park hosts open-air events and is one of the nicest places in the city simply to people-watch.

How to get there
The park sits right in the centre of Skopje, within easy walking distance of Macedonia Square and most city-centre hotels. It is free and open all year round, and it is at its most beautiful in spring and early autumn.
Tips for visiting
Come in the morning for a peaceful stroll, or in the early evening when locals fill the paths and café terraces. It pairs perfectly with a visit to the zoo or a wider walk through the centre.
