Skopje City Park is a beautiful green space located in the heart of Skopje, the capital city of North Macedonia. It serves as a popular recreational area for residents and tourists alike, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
The City Park was built in 1905 by order of Skopje wali Hafiz Mehmed Pasha during the Ottoman period. Initially named ISLAANE, it covered 16,000 m² and was designed with geometric paths and floral displays. It laid the foundation for what is now the modern-day City Park.
The largest expansion and redesign occurred in the 1970s, with major reconstruction completed in 2009. Today, the park spans over 454,000 m² and includes:
- 6,012 deciduous trees
- 1,800 evergreen trees
- 6,050 deciduous shrubs
- 2,630 evergreen shrubs
